Admission to the 教育学院

When you enroll in the Foundations Quarter, you are considered a tentative candidate for admission to the 教育学院. Foundations Quarter is comprised of two courses, EDU 2100 & EDU 2300, that may be taken concurrently. 方法季度开始前, you will be required to prepare a formal application for full admission to the 教育学院.

Upon the fulfillment of all required prerequisites and full admission to the 教育学院, you may take the primary sequence of courses leading to certification.

Admission to the 教育学院 requires the following:

• 完成基础节 获得3分.0的绩点 (“B”) average 没有低于2分的成绩.0 (“C”). Your prerequisite coursework must be no more than five 一年s old.
• Complete all required Skills courses 没有低于2分的成绩.0 (“C”).
• Receive two favorable recommendations 来自SPU教职员工. You will receive directions on this from the 认证 办公室 prior to Methods Quarter.
• 通过 SPU writing requirement of ENG 3301, or both WRI 1000 and WRI 1100, 成绩为2分.0(“C”)或更高.

All teacher certification candidates are subject to 华盛顿 state requirements for the Residency Certificate. These requirements are updated periodically by the 办公室 of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and will take precedent over SPU policies. The 教育学院 will make every effort to keep students apprised of state changes. Students are also encouraged to visit the 教育学院 office in 彼得森大厅 有关州要求的最新信息.

Upon successful completion of the Residency 认证 Program and a baccalaureate degree, the SPU 教育学院 recommends students to OSPI for their Residency Teacher 认证. Once OSPI receives program completion verification from SPU, students must complete the application process through the OSPI “e-认证” system in order to receive their certificate.

The Residency Teaching Certificate allows you to teach in 华盛顿 state. All teachers must take action to maintain a current teaching certificate as per OSPI regulations. Students are strongly encouraged to monitor their certification status on the “e-认证” system and keep apprised of current certification requirements on the OSPI认证网站.
